Hey everyone,

My auto climate control seems to always blow cold. This happened throughout the winter and is still happening now in the summer. Usually a while into a drive, I'll realize im pretty cold with the thermostat set to 72, so ill raise it to 75.. still blowing cold, raise it to 80, still blowing cold, raise it to 86, still blowing cold?! Raise it to Hi, and it finally turns warm.

Of course the car is up to temp. If i disable auto, and just set it to 80 degrees, it's warm. So something seems off with the thermostat temperature sensing or something. This is with an ambient temperature around 55-70 recently but obviously much colder in the winter and it was still doing the same thing.

Is the temperature sensor maybe just exposed in the sun and getting warmed up? Or near a warm duct? Does anyone else's auto climate control behave this way? Thanks

Does the ambient outside temperature display seem accurate?
On an Accord I had, a leaf got wrapped around the sensor in the grill and messed up all the auto settings.

I believe it's close to accurate but I'll pay closer attention to that, thanks for the idea

One more thought.
My wife's '24 Civic Touring has separate climate controls for driver/passenger. I don't know what will happen if they're set to wildly different temperatures and the system is in Auto mode.
Easy to check.

I do have this feature too, it's not enabled though.
Testing it out, it's pretty bizarre that you can have max heat out one vent and max A/C out the other vent. It works quite well.

I noticed this in my 2024 Touring as well. It didn't seem that I could get the warm air I wanted, in auto, unless I turned the temp up very high.

In the "auto" setting, it appears that the A/C is always running, so you really have to turn it up to make the air feel warm. So, unless I specifically need the AC running to cool the vehicle or to clear the windows on a humid rainy day, I'll hit the auto button, select the temp I want and then just tap the AC button so that "AC Off" displays. This solves the problem. Another added benefit is that you'll notice a little better fuel mileage.

Interesting, I figured it was turning on/off the A/C compressor as needed based on temperature setting. Really strange that it just runs it all the time especially nowadays with emissions and whatnot. I'll give this a try the next time I notice the problem, thanks

Pressing the A/C button indeed shows "AC OFF". But it also disabled the auto climate control

Well, it technically disables auto climate control because you're not allowing it to use the A/C. The "auto" light will go off. But, it continues to work in full auto, just without the option to cycle on the A/C. Obviously, if it's 85 degrees outside and you set the auto climate control to 68, but have the AC off, it's not going to be able to cool the interior to 68 degrees.

When it's cold and your desire is to warm the interior, it works as advertised. I always tap the A/C off when I'm trying to warm the interior unless it's a particularly muggy day and I want to dehumidify the interior.
