Anyone here race their FL5 or even FK8 down the quarter mile?

I don't know, some Civics seem to do pretty well FWD only.... :dunno: These guys run a FWD and an AWD Civic. Yeah, it's light, yeah it makes 2000hp and yeah this is the AWD....but let me find a good FWD video.

Hilarious. A dedicated lightweight super power drag car on slicks isn’t remotely what I’m talking about.

I’m talking about 95% of us modded guys that are tune and simple bolt ons.

Street tires 350hp-400hp, we’re getting dusted from a red light from equivalent (and slightly lesser powered) RWD and especially AWD cars.

My mk8 Golf R wouldn’t handle or brake anywhere near my FL5, but tune only, they’ll do high 11s on factory street rubber. Never gonna happen in an equivalent CTR.

Yeah, this exactly what I have been trying to say. The fwd platform will take a lot of money to even launch close to an awd car.

Just showing what people are doing with front wheel drive cars at the extreme end which is pretty cool IMO.

Yeah, I was second guessing if I should have bought a Golf R but too many issues with the Vdubs. Back to running a FL5, I'm going to run mine in a few weeks just for kicks and it will be fun.

This guy here is cookin pretty well. Probably running slicks of some sort.

Man, Case and point right there. Probably street tires, couldn’t even get out of the 13s. Good traps, though!

A DSG Mk8 R will run 12.40s-12.50s at 110mph completely stock.

FWD is frustrating from a stop.

I raced my 2017 GTI which doesn't have a limited slip, and even worse, 225 / 18 tires. One wheel or the other would spin and just couldn't get off the line. Finally I left the line like I was on my way to Walmart and it cut 6 tenths off the time 14.10/103. The trap speed told me the car should be in the mid 13s if I could get it launched harder. I do like the size, the interior quality and quiet ride of the VWs.

The Golf R is an excellent bang for the buck, but really only with the DSG because you can keep the turbo spooled up for the entire run. Mid 12s is smoking fast, but I just can't get excited about driving an automatic. Volkswagen shot themselves in the foot by cancelling the 6 speed manual. Bye bye Vdub, won't ever consider you again.

The Type R has plenty of advantages all it's own despite being slower and FWD. They are rather exclusive because of the low production numbers and to me they feel more raw, look more aggressive and are more fun to drive than anything else. A tune is relatively cheap and if I get bored with the car, that's what I'll do next.
