Just a update, I bought and installed a Power flex bushing insert for the dog-bone rear mount. This was a good upgrade for wheel hop and I recommend it. I can spin through 1st now smoothly and shift into 2nd without any resistance or grind potential.
As for my issue with the banging sound -...
Yeah that is my thoughts too. Ive been thinking of getting a mount. I just cant see a brand new bone stock car having this issue. Super odd.
But is it only my car or anyone else?
Hello everyone.
I have noticed on my 2023 Type R since it was brand new, a banging sound or knock which comes from the passenger side firewall. This noise happens during hard shifting, usually from 2nd to 3rd gear. Yesterday I was able to replicate this sound with 1st gear shifting into 2nd...
Another thing is to downsize your width. 265mm wide makes alot of noise. If you are serious about reducing noise and keeping the CTR, Id go for a 245mm, pick a low noise tire AND a new 18in wheel.
Insane effort by the driver. He almost lost control at the 4.20min mark pushing so hard! I figured it would have beat the Megan Trophy R by more of a gap, but the time is very impressive considering the Civic has no weight reduction.
Wanted to highlight this very interesting info that people may have glanced over.
The new FL5 Turbo although having a 5mm smaller compressor inlet, still produces more power and torque than the FK8 turbo. Largely due to the improvement in computerized fluid dynamic software when developing the...
Common on Honda Trans. Same thing happened on my 8th Gen Si. Its always best practice to go 2nd then to 1st. Also go to 1st before reverse. This makes for smoothest shifts as it aligns synchro's.
I love the look of the stock shift knob too. It suits the car well and looks upscale. But the problem is the temperature for sure. Obviously being in Canada its cold AF up here and I pretty much drive with gloves on if I take the car out lol.
Anyway thanks for the reply folks, I will do some...
Based on what im seeing on the newer models its very hit or miss. Some folks it pops out no problem and some people its a struggle and they damage things. This video for example, they had to dismount the boot from the collar completely to unclip it. If you look at the design of that collar...
Has anyone DIY'ed their shift knob install? I picked up my new Red Knob, however during attempting installation and watching youtube videos, I discovered that most people are damaging their shift boot collar in the process.
It appears that 2020 and newer Type R have a different style of collar...
Its suppose to be there. Thats a high impact area for rock chips. I actually got all my doors wrapped with Expel so they removed it. But yes suppose to be there and a very nice detail from Honda to ensure the cars protected.
Due to short notice on my pickup date I had to source a cheap set locally. I ended up getting some knockoff wheels and Khumo wintercraft WP72 tires
18x8 +35 5x120 RAC wheel R01
245/40/18 Khumo Wintercraft WP72
This setup cost me only $2300CDN and since I dont winter the car I didnt feel the...
So the thing is the trap speed of the FL5 being about 4MPH slower than the Type R LE is a bit telling and I do think the FL5 should be quicker there. Could be weight difference of the wheels and car but the engine is suppose to have more power. But still, you dont buy the FL5 for straight line...
Just installed mine. It is decent quality and looks great. Only thing is the bottom right corner seems like it wasn't made for the sub woofer. So I cut off that little cubbie and now it fits perfect. Type R specific branding and OEM quality. Can't go wrong.
I heard on a video you cant have the R+ Gauge Cluster in Individual mode. You can on my car. Wonder if its a Canadian only thing or can all cars do it?
EDIT: Looks like US cars can do it too.
Individual mode is awesome! R+ Cluster, Comfort sound, and Comfort Suspension is sweet.
